The Germany Opportunity Card, also known as the Chancenkarte, provides eligible non-EU nationals with an opportunity to travel to Germany to search for suitable employment without having a confirmed job offer.
The Germany Opportunity Card is designed for qualified professionals who wish to explore employment opportunities in Germany. Depending on your qualification and circumstances, you may qualify either as a skilled worker with a recognised qualification or through the points-based route. Eligible applicants must also meet the applicable language, financial and other requirements. The Opportunity Card can generally be issued for up to 12 months and allows limited employment while searching for suitable work, subject to the applicable conditions.
Germany Opportunity Card Checklist:
Before applying for your Germany Opportunity Card, make sure you have the following essential documents ready:
- Valid Passport – Issued within the last 10 years and with at least two empty pages.
- Germany National Visa Application Form – Completed and duly signed as required.
- Recent Biometric Photographs – As per German visa requirements.
- Proof of Qualification – University degree or vocational qualification, as applicable.
- Proof of Professional Experience – Employment certificates, reference letters or contracts confirming relevant work experience.
- Proof of Language Proficiency – German and/or English language certificate as applicable to your eligibility route.
- Proof of Financial Means – Evidence of sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay in Germany, currently generally at least €1,091 per month, along with applicable return-travel funds.
- Health Insurance – Appropriate health insurance coverage valid from the date of entry into Germany.
- Additional Supporting Documents – Any other documents requested by the German Mission based on your individual circumstances.
